We believe that God has created all authority. We believe the institution of civil government (state) is a Divine appointment for the interests of good order of human society. We believe that God ordained and created two other institutions and their authority, the local church and the family. We believe all three institutions should be prayed for, conscientiously honored, and obeyed except only in things opposed to the will of our Lord Jesus Christ, Who is the only Lord of the conscience, and the coming Prince of the kings of the earth. Every person is subject to these authorities, but all (including the authorities themselves) are answerable to God and are governed by His Word. God has given each institution specific Biblical responsibilities and balanced those responsibilities with the understanding that no institution has the right to infringe upon the other. The family, the church, and the civil government (state) are equal and sovereign in their respective biblically assigned spheres of responsibility under God. We believe that the marriage is biblically defined as one adult male and one adult female legally married in the presence of witnesses, which incorporates a vow between them and God.
